Dumbshit Dept.

San Luis Motorsports Sucks!

I just purchased a new Honda Ruckus scooter:

Before purchasing I called a number of dealers to compare prices. Down in San Diego the prices were much cheaper than LA and up here in San Luis. It turns out that San Luis Motorspors was the most expensive. They charged the normal MSRP, but then also added shipping and set-up fees to the total price. Their setup fees were three times that of the next dealer.

So I went in and asked why this was: "Our guys are really good. Its really worth it!" Oh please! How much skill does it take to take a scooter out of the crate and attach things to it? Maybe add some oil? How could someone possibly be three times better at that?

So then I wanted to get them down to a reasonable price -- in San Diego they wanted $1999 out the door for the scooter. Here $2607.something? Six hundred dollar difference for the same scooter. Someone is smoking crack. It was clear that they didn't care to make the deal. They'd prefer some dumbass to come in off the street and pay their ridiculous prices. At one point, Keith the lovely salesman said: "Come on, its a $2000 scooter -- we're not going to make anything on that. Scooters are not that important to us".

How can you tell your customer, straight to their face, that their business doesn't matter? Needless to say, I didn't buy from them. I went to Paso Robles to R & R Sportcenter, where they were happy to help me and to sell me the scooter at a reasonable price. I ended up paying $2150 out the door, which was a competitive price -- especially for the central coast. Too bad for San Luis Motorsports, but then again, they don't seem to care.

I still need a set of gloves, so I walked in again today and found a pair. I walked to the cash register and the chick behind the counter asks for my name. I just said that she didn't need my name to sell me some gloves. She disagreed and just picked up my debit card and started typing in my name off that! I snatched my card out of her hand and left -- I don't need to give anyone my name to purchase something! (dumb luck I didn't have enough cash, otherwise I would've complained to the manager)

How can people conduct business like that? How can you be so assuming and rude? And the thing that galls me is that this is the only motorcycle place in town, so they can act any freaking way they like. Sometimes there are some serious downsides to living in a small town.

The moral of the story is that I am not ever going to set foot into San Luis Motorsports again, since they SUCK. So, if you're considering purchasing a motorcycle, go somewhere else. (I posted this mainly for the benefit of others doing research on San Luis Motorsports.)

If you think that's bad, you should try their repair department! Ugh!

Oh goodie.

I was planning on doing all maintenance myself, so I guess that strengthens that resolve...

Sigh. The joys of living in a small town.

They are just trying to maximize profits, much like everyone else. Problem is, they have this Management Consultant who has to justify his salary by shaking things up and pissing everyone off. Attitudes suck there because the owner lets this guy run the place (into the ground). Good people, crappy working conditions.

Very interesting -- do you know the name of the owner? I'd very much interested in giving him a call, to see if he understands what he is doing to his business.

Thanks for the insight!

My buddy says his name is Steve Myron, or something like that. Good Luck!
