RIAA cracks down on BitTorrent
Brahm Cohen's
BitTorrent is starting to get
targeted by the RIAA. BitTorrent is hands down the best swarming download tool out there. But, too bad for the RIAA -- BitTorrent has substantial non infringing uses: Brahm hosted a BitTorrent stream of the RedHat ISO on the day that it came out and tons of people were able to download it in one day, whereas previously you had to wait until the FTP mirrors caught up and weren't slammed with downloads. Given that example and the Grokster case it will be difficult for the RIAA to do anything about BitTorrect. Nice.
The great cat & mouse game continues on. The rules change slightly from time to time (e.g. Grokster case) but game keeps going back and forth.
