Copyright

Reclaim the Public Domain

Please take a moment to sign this online petition to support the Eldred Act to reclaim the Public Domain.

The petition urges Congress to reign in the copyright laws, to give 98% of the commercially unviable works back to the Public Domain, and to support the Public Domain Enhancement Act:

This statute would require American copyright owners to pay a very low fee (for example, $1) fifty years after a copyrighted work was published. If the owner pays the fee, the copyright will continue for whatever duration Congress sets. But if the copyright is not worth even $1 to the owner, then we believe the work should pass into the public domain.
Its the right thing to do if you don't want big media to get ever more powerful.
