Music industry watch

A serious threat to EMusic

Apple plans to expand its iTunes Store offering with lots of music from indie artists. It seems that they will have a bash tomorrow in Cuptertino to woo lots of smaller labels into the iTunes Store. I know that Derek from CD Baby will be there.

This is great for the public, great for indie artists, great for the iTunes Store, but not so good for EMusic, which is the best source for indie music at the moment. I'm curious to see where this will lead -- overall I applaud Apple's move to include indie artists!

Yup. I hope that EMusic and Apple are talking -- if not, they should be. I wonder if any of the contracts that EMusic has in place could be of use to Apple at the right price.

I wonder....
